A large number of Armenian refugees, who found shelter in Greece after the Genocide and the Asia Minor disaster, settled in the Dourgouti area. A wooden shack, in the refugee camp, served as a temple and school at the same time. Thanks to the efforts of the faithful in the area, the St. Garabed temple was finally erected in 1981.
