On Thursday, March 15, 2018, the President of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos received a delegation of the Armenian Community in Greece, headed by His Eminence Archbishop Kegham Khatcherian, Prelate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Greece, the president and members of the Central Council of Armenians in Greece and members of the Armenian National Committee. The Metropolite expressed his gratitude to the President and conveyed the warm greetings of Aram I, the Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia.
The delegation had the opportunity to discuss with the President issues concerning the Greek-Armenian community, as well as the major issue of Nagorno Karabakh. The President was briefed on the commemoration of the 103rd Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and the 100th Anniversary of the Independence of Armenia in 1918. Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos expressed his warm feelings towards the Armenians and emphasized their contribution to the economic and social life of Greece. He also referred to the close cooperation developed in recent years between Greece and Armenia. The President expressed his willingness to further strengthen the traditional friendly ties between the two peoples and stressed that he would like to pay an official visit to Armenia next autumn.
